The Basics
NCS staff members, community members, and myself have come together to make this memorial possible and I could not be more thankful. The memorial will feature a dodecahedron (12 sided polygon favored by Greg) as a functional bench which will also house a lovely tree to represent the wisdom shared from Gregory to his many students, friend, family and colleagues throughout his life. Thanks to a wonderful labor donation from Steve Stombler, founder of Stombler Landscaping, the twelve sided polygon has already been installed on the NCS campus and currently acts as a common gathering center for both student to student interaction as well as student to teacher interaction.
The Next Step
Since the constructing of the concrete dodecahedron Ms. Kanowsky, myself and many other community members have been working diligently to create a Humphries inspired tile design that will wrap around the structure to be seen on the NCS campus forever. The tile design is both meaningful and artful in that we are basing the design on one of Gregory's original drawings seen to the right. The design also incorporates a number of his silly and fun doodles as he was a fun man who enjoyed finding the humor in any situation. Donation funding will be used to buy the supplies to bring our design to life. We will also be planting a tree as the center piece of this memorial to act as a living representation of Gregory and all that he had given to the world during his life. I invite you to check out the "Gallery" page which showcases a number of his art pieces including photographs, paintings, sketches, and much more. Also do not forget to visit the "Donate" page, all donations big or small are respected the same and used to better the Natomas Charter community and beyond like never before.

*Were you a student or teacher who wrote a note for Mr. Humphries? Well, they all now reside between and inside the cinder-blocks seen above. . . forever :)
